This past week during Library/Media time 3rd grade students learned about plagiarism. We learned about what it is (taking someone else's work and calling it your own) and how to avoid it (writing things in your own words and creating citations to give credit to where you got your information/pictures from). The students had a fun time watching this plagiarism video (one of my favorites) and then the pictures above show student applying what they learned to scenarios. The students had to figure out if the situation was plagiarism or if it was ok to do. They had a lot of fun. I am hoping they will remember all of these plagiarism ideas when we start our research for Culture Fair next week!
Our school is participating in the Read your way to the BIG GAME reading contest. All you have to do is read 6 books, any 6 books you want and log them on the reading log, and turn it into me, Mrs. Bridges by November 6th! That's it! If you do you will get a free Clemson/USC reading champion bookmark and be entered into the drawing to win 4 free tickets to the Palmetto Bowl where USC and Clemson play each other. How exciting!
I just wanted to remind you to keep reading! Those forms are due soon! If you need any extra forms just ask Mrs. Bridges ([email protected]) |
